Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.As part of a multi-disciplinary team of diverse engineers, you will work at the intersection of program management, engineering, integrated supply chain, quality, and test operations, supporting team effectiveness and coordination. Assignments can range from supporting procurement activities to component development and testing coordination. In early project phases, with the oversight of your Integrated Project Team Lead (IPTL) and Technical Lead you may support the definition of the project schedule to achieve overall program goals and component requirements. In later phases, you will help coordinate internal and external stakeholders, oversee changes, and help track the resolution to unexpected problems in support of engine or subsystem builds for integration into test facilities launch vehicles, and test activities.As a Project Engineer within the Engines Design Office, you will support a passionate team of contributors and experts on the Engines Avionics Integrated Product Team (IPT). In this role, you will support and track the execution of engine avionics within an engine program. As a Project Engineer, you must enjoy solving communication and organizational problems, earning trust, and improving the overall performance of all teams involved. We are seeking a self-motivated and highly organized individual who can work with some direction and coordinate teams in the execution of engineering integration activities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.Responsibilities:As a Project Engineer III supporting engine avionics software, you will exercise technical project management responsibilities for a team that builds and tests real-time embedded software that controls rocket engines for human capable spacecraft. In this role, you will collaborate with programmatic and technical stakeholders to:Fully define project scope, assumptions, and constraintsDevelop task-based labor, material, and schedule estimatesManage project budgets.Develop comprehensive program planning artifacts such as integrated master plans, integrated master schedules, work breakdown structures, and hardware utilization lists that fully capture project scope and translate it into executable work aligned to avionics development standards (e.g. ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-330)Lead/moderate software and systems scrum meetings using Jira as a work tracking tool to status tasks assigned to engineersTrack/report performance to plan and address and explain any deviations via bi-weekly project management meetingsIdentify and resolve or escalate “blockers” to team performance.Generate metrics, presentations, and other artifacts as required to provide status and planning data to stakeholdersClearly and concisely present information on current and upcoming projects to senior leadersPerform risk identification and management.Lead the baseline change process.Qualifications:Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space!B.S. degree or higher in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace, or related field.5+ years experience as either a technical contributor or project engineer/technical project manager developing and testing real-time embedded systems for safety critical applications.Experience with avionics development standards such as ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-330 or similar.Possess high attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills.Extensive experience using Jama on an Agile development team.Extensive experience using scheduling tools such as Microsoft ProjectExperience with the full software development lifecycle from writing requirements through formal verification.Ability to learn fast, multitask, and drive tasks to completion.Ability to present programmatic and technical concepts to peers and leadership.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.Must have can do attitude and be problem solver.Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:Project Management Professional (PMP) certificationExperience with Earned Value Management (EVM)Compensation Range for:WA applicants is $141,480.00-$198,072.00Other site ranges may differApplications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.Inclusivity StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
