With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:Arcadis is looking for a Principal Engineering Consultant with specialized Solid Waste Management Consulting Engineering experience to join our Resilience Team in either Hanover, Maryland or Arlington, Virginia. The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill a hybrid role to sell, lead and manage delivery of solid waste related engineering and business advisory service offerings within the municipal sector market of the DC Metro area and surrounding region. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual to actively participate as a key member of the Area Leadership and engage with both our regional and national team of scientists, planners and engineers to help shape Arcadis impact across this segment of the market sector and enable our clients to develop sustainable and resilient solutions to the challenges faced by the solid waste industry. In this client facing role, the successful candidate will utilize their specialized expertise and knowledge of solid waste management systems in support of program planning, capital project delivery, operations and maintenance, and even remediation of related collection, transfer, processing and disposal of solid waste materials via a range of technologies. You will also have a proven business development track record working as part of an integrated team to professionals aligning to win a growing portfolio of industry-leading projects, as well as a reputation for excellence in client service and management.We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with balance between remote and in-office work. Role accountabilities:This role reports to our Mid-Atlantic Area Leader and will be responsible for achieving group and individual goals related to sales, revenue and profitability of a targeted portfolio of clients and contract vehicles.Other responsibilities include:Collaborate with other Arcadis regional stakeholders and lead development of area business plans including identification of opportunities, development of capture plans, and leadership of individual contract/project pursuits to win.Assist client teams in developing technical approaches/solutions during preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations. Provide technical guidance to multi-disciplinary teams on the development of significant solid waste management related opportunities and projects.Provide senior technical advisor and/or quality assurance management in support of project pursuit and delivery. Cultivate a growing list of select qualified clients by engaging directly with them to determine needs and develop solutions.Manage internal project budgets and schedule for client deliverables.Provide leadership and mentoring to direct reports.Provide Technical Lead on select projects when aligning with personal areas of specialized expertise.Supervise and review the work of other project technical leads.Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.Travel (up to 25%) may be required.Qualifications & Experience:Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field of study.15 years of solid waste management consulting engineering experience.Key Skills/Attributes:Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.Ability to maintain professional attitude/demeanor and objectivity while navigating complex situations with multiple internal/external stakeholders and conflicting needs and priorities. Preferred Qualifications: Proven excellence in business development including sales, client maintenance, programmatic planning, development and implementation of capture plans and proposals.Proven excellence in proposal writing including the ability to clearly articulate value propositions which differentiate from other offerors.Proven excellence in internal project delivery (budget/profit and schedule).Proven excellence in capital project delivery on behalf of clients including capital project planning and experience using a range of alternative project delivery methods.Proven excellence in collaboration and problem-solving.Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best. We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $185,000/year.
