What You'll Contribute to OHM Advisors

With OHM Advisors, you'll lead essential municipal and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) projects that enhance community well-being. You'll manage multidisciplinary teams and oversee projects such as water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems-as well as roadways, trails, and parks. You will also support OHM's multiple projects with foundations, NGOs and state and federal government to assist municipalities in vetting and securing grant and loan funding. By guiding these projects from concept to completion and addressing challenges with people-first solutions, your work will directly support our mission of advancing communities and driving sustainable growth.

Your Responsibilities

As a Project Manager:

You will lead project teams in creating successful projects and maintaining client satisfaction. With a passion to be a trusted advisor to clients, utilizing your collaborative team of experts with each their own strengths, you will provide the best solutions to meet your clients' needs and deliver successful projects. Main responsibilities will include maintaining client satisfaction, managing your project teams successfully, and managing your projects profitably. We believe that success in these areas results in consistently obtaining repeat work and similar work with new clients. Advancement may include becoming a Senior Project Manager, which incorporates the responsibilities of managing more difficult projects and the mentoring/coaching of other project managers.

As a Client Representative:

You will ensure client satisfaction by maintaining active relationships (through being the main point of contact) with assigned municipal and/or Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) clients. You will work closely with OHM's Principal for your clients and individual projects' Project Managers. The Client Representative is considered a trusted advisor by our clients and is responsible for preserving and growing client relationships, assisting the project managers with managing your clients' work profitably, and maintaining client satisfaction. As you gain OHM knowledge and experience, and advancement may include becoming a Principal for your clients.

As a Project Professional:

Technical and creative aspects of projects are central to this role, encompassing problem-solving, project phase understanding, objective comprehension, and adherence to industry standards. This includes preparing and reviewing project documents, site visits, computational analysis, CADD-based design, cost estimation, construction administration, and effective communication with stakeholders. Staff management duties involve coordinating staffing and subconsultant needs, providing guidance to project staff, and coordinating project deliverables with technical experts.

Requirements

Education, Experience, & Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, planning or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience of working with local agencies and/or NGOs, preferred experience in the planning, design and construction of municipal projects (road, stormwater management, utility systems, etc.) Significant knowledge of design procedures, practices, and standards in the State/region and with Michigan governmental agencies.
  • Professional Engineer Registration (Michigan) or AICP preferred but not required.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficient with software/tools such as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), PSMJ, or equivalent earned value tracking, ERP systems, etc. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing projects and a group of staff including understanding project finance (margin, net fees, net fee multiplier, A/R, WIP, days outstanding).
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills with proven ability to manage people, clients, and projects.

Additional Requirements
  • Local travel to project locations and client offices. Occasional travel to other OHM Advisors offices.
