This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Sr. Surveyor/Party Chief with our New England Geospatial team. The following locations will be considered: Worcester, MA/ Boston, MA/ Merrimack, NH.

  • Candidate can expect to be a supporting or leading role for work on a wide variety of projects including transporation, environmental, water/wastewater, commercial, residential, solid waste, and energy. From rural areas to urban areas.
  • Perform boundary & topographic surveys; engineering design surveys; GPS surveys.
  • Utilize survey instruments to perform field surveys for civil transportation projects.
  • Utilize Auto CAD Civil 3D to edit field book files.
  • Utilize survey instruments to perform field surveys.
  • Working closely and in collaboration with a dynamic team of experienced professionals.
  • Out of the area travel, with potential of overnight stays, as projects dictate.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 5+ years working in the survey profession and capable of handling small topographic surveys using conventional and/or geodetic technology.
  • General awareness of land survey principles, practices, process, methods and techniques.
  • A valid driver's license. Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Proficiency with survey equipments.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently under supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
  • Must possess a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work outside in all climates.
  • Sound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Requires availability to travel out of the area, with a potential of overnight stays, as projects dictate.
  • Requires availability to work nights and overtime, as projects dictate
  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in closely related discipline is preferred.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification.
  • Experience with robotic total station is a plus.
  • Experience with Topographic Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Construction Layout, Laser scanning & GPS Surveys.
  • Experience with collecting field data in a line work format
