GE Vernova's Gas Power business engineers advanced, efficient natural gas-powered technologies and services, along with decarbonization solutions that aim to help electrify a lower carbon future. As part of the Gas Power One Field Services team, FieldCore installs, maintains, and upgrades power generation equipment, enabling operators of the world's energy infrastructure to provide more reliable and affordable energy.

Job Summary:

The Technical Field Instructor III provides on-site technical training to customer-owned utility and industrial power plants with turbine maintenance, operations, and generator maintenance either domestic or international locations. Responsible for providing OEM training on the technical skills for the engineer to operate confidently and independently for FieldCore. The position receives training at the GE Learning Center and at customer locations globally. Assists with class fulfillment, manages training classes, oversees and maintains all necessary training manual inventories, arranges student logistics, and implements and reconciles the financial processes of all global training facilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead training for FieldCore on gas, steam, and combined cycle operations and maintenance
  • Design, develop and deliver gas, steam, combined cycle turbine maintenance and operations training for assigned turbines, including preparation of classroom or support equipment
  • Manage training budget involving supplies, hours, materials
  • Control job cost and monitor mistakes
  • Maintain turbine modules and OEM materials, including quality control presentation, preservation, protection, security, and safekeeping
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures
  • Prepare for training programs and class materials
  • Must obtain a performance rating of 80% or higher
  • Maintain training budget standards and comply with FieldCore expense policies
  • Duties as assigned to accomplish FieldCore training objectives
  • Travel may be required, domestically and internationally
  • Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Programing is preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in power plant maintenance, turbine generator maintenance, or power plant equipment installation/ commissioning and or turbine controls / excitation control systems depending on the course material to be delivered.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently

Desired Characteristics:
  • Previous technical instructor experience
  • Energy field service, field engineering, or installation and commissioning of GE Energy Turbine products and GE excitation, controls, mechanical, Heavy Duty Excitation, Turbine Operations and Maintenance
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and planning skills
  • Proven ability and track record to produce and deliver results
  • Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Familiar with excitation, controls, or mechanical operation, and control philosophies
  • Self-starter with proven experience managing multiple tasks
  • Initiative to learn and apply state-of-the-art technology / concepts in the day-to-day requirements of this position
  • Strong analytical skills working independently and in a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business, technical/technical writing personnel and presentation skills to an audience with a wide range of experience levels

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual salary range for this position is $82,700 to $136,500. This is an exempt from overtime position. FieldCore benefits include insurance (medical, dental, vision, disability, and life), retirement savings, health and Wellness reimbursement, and a bonus or incentive program. Eligibility for FieldCore benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable benefits plan.
