Reimagine What’s Possible This position is based at our Project Delivery office in Amherst, NY.Hiring Bonus $10K+.Senior Principal Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer - Role and Responsibilities:Required Skills / Abilities:We are seeking a Senior Principal Process Control and Instrumentation Engineer within our Instrumentation Engineer Team located at our Project Delivery Facility in Amherst, NY.Our Global Process Controls Engineering Team provides engineering and commissioning support for new Cryogenic Air Separation and Process Gases Plants. Our Engineering Team serves a diverse market including petrochemical, steel, gasification, and electronics. We are a regional Team who work closely with colleagues in our United Kingdom, India, and China Engineering offices. We also provide support to the Americas Operations team and after sales support in upgrading/modifying, revalidation and maintaining existing plant assets.Scope of responsibilities include:Develop process controls execution strategies in conjunction with overall project development team (both locally and with remote engineering centers)Participation in P&ID development and Operability and Hazard ReviewsAuthor, check or approve specifications of process control equipment including control valves, relief valves, flow measurement devices, process instrumentation, analytical systems, and DCS, PLC, and SCADA systemsIdentify and implement process controls technical risk itemsLead your functional project teams schedule, budget, and quality. This Team may be a local in-house design team, geographically remote engineering and design center, or an outside engineering EPCReview SIL assessments and author SIL verificationsParticipate in Control System Design reviewsResponsible for Cyber Security aspects of their scope of supplyParticipate in Factory Acceptance Testing of Process Automation equipment (DCS, Analyzers, PDC)Production and maintenance of instrument summariesParticipate in plant commissioning, BPCS / SIS validations, SAT, and startupsOrchestrate work and report to project management about progressMay participate in preparing cost estimates for valves, instrumentation, analytical equipment, DCS equipment, SIS equipment and laborKnowledge, Skills, Abilities and QualificationsAble to demonstrate a deep understanding of the design and implementation of control and instrumentation systems for process plantsExperience developing BPCS / SIS architectures, control applications, and hardware specifications using Siemens PCS7Additional experience with other controls platforms is a plusDemonstrate technical competence, leadership skills, communicate effectivelyInstrumentation specification authoring in Smart-Plant Instrumentation toolsetLead and direct the work of junior engineers assigned to projectsMust be a strong teammate with a willingness to accept responsibilityHave excellent problem-solving abilities, be high-reaching, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to work well within a multi-disciplinary design team located in multiple geographies and to collaborate closely directly with suppliers and clientsTravel is required, both domestic and internationalTravel will include trips to plant sites, equipment fabricators, outside engineering firms, and customer locations (estimated at 30%)Relevant practical site commissioning experience while not essential would be preferredEducation and Licensing Requirements:A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with 15 years of applicable work experience#INDBUF#LI-CH1Air Products proudly values the skills, dedication, and leadership that veterans bring to the table.
