The Field Service Engineeris a seniorposition responsible for the technical oversight of robotic system installations, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting in industrial environments. This role requires expertise in multi-axis motion control, embedded systems, and robotic system programming. The selected candidate will also play a key role in creating departmental standards, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring continuous advancement in robotic solutions.

This role demands a high level of autonomy, technical depth, and commitment to operational excellence.

Location: Onsite in Suwannee, GA. Or Remote, preferably Midwest U.S., with proximity (within 1 hour) to a major airport for ease of travel

Travel Requirements: 75% travel required, with a maximum deployment period of 14 days

Responsibilities:

Advanced System Design and Commissioning
    • Oversee and lead the design, setup, and commissioning of complex robotic systems, including multi-axis motion systems, servo mechanisms, industrial robots, robotic cells, controllers, and automation sensors
    • Integrate and optimize motion planning algorithms, trajectory generation, and sensor calibration to achieve precise, reliable, and high-performance robot functionality
    • Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure robotic systems meet both customer and company standards


Strategic Maintenance and High-Level Troubleshooting
    • Lead preventative and corrective maintenance programs for electrical and mechanical components, including electro-mechanical actuators, hydraulic systems, and industrial sensors
    • Utilize advanced diagnostics to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues in real time, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum operational efficiency
    • Establish and refine best practices for PLC programming, robotic programming, and system integrations across diverse applications


Customer and Project Engagement
    • Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, managing high-level technical inquiries and providing expert solutions
    • Provide training and handover support to customer teams, ensuring comprehensive understanding and optimal use of robotic systems
    • Participate in customer presentations, reporting on system performance, technical solutions, and project progress


Mentorship and Departmental Development
    • Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering knowledge-sharing and advancing departmental skillsets in robotic and automation technologies
    • Collaborate with senior management to shape department standards, define strategic goals, and introduce new technologies and methodologies


Cross-Functional and Strategic Collaboration
    • Partner with engineering, project management, and operations teams to scope, plan, and execute complex automation projects
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives, contributing insights on automation advancements, process optimization, and strategic equipment upgrades


Qualifications:
    • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in robotics engineering, motion control systems, and field service for advanced robotic installations
    • Expert proficiency in PLC programming, multi-axis motion systems, embedded hardware design, and servo mechanisms
    • Deep understanding of robot programming for six- and seven-axis systems, including end-of-arm tooling solutions and safety integration
    • Proficiency in C++, MATLAB, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and familiarity with advanced automation protocols (Ethernet/IP, MODBUS, RS-232, RS-485)
    • Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems
    • Strong communication, leadership, and project managementskills to lead projects, develop teams, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
    • High level of independence and adaptability to fast-paced, challenging environments.


Preferred:
    • Hands-on experience with manufacturing, CNC processes, conveyor systems, and experience managing robotic operations in industrial settings
    • Associates degree or greater, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a closely related field
    • Familiarity with industry-standard safety protocols (NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA79, UL508A)
    • Relevant certifications in robotics, industrial automation, or electrical safety


Additional Requirements:
    • Must reside within one hour of a major airport
    • Availability for extended hours, weekends, and on-call support
