Location: United States, Utah

Avalanche, a division of WB Games Inc., seeks a Senior Character Artist. Join the team that created Hogwarts Legacy, a new open world, action RPG set in the Wizarding World.

The Daily
  • Craft high-quality 3D character models in alignment with the project's artistic vision and technical constraints.
  • Develop character concepts in collaboration with the Art Director, ensuring they fit the game's aesthetic and narrative ambitions.
  • Sculpt detailed high-poly models and optimize low-poly versions for real-time game engine integration.
  • Liaise with riggers and animators to guarantee that character models are rigged for optimal deformation and functionality.
  • Produce textures and shaders for characters, achieving the desired look, whether photo-realistic or stylized.
  • Participate in developing character art pipelines and adhere to modeling guidelines.
  • Support and assist team members, promoting a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends and tools that could influence character modeling processes.
  • Work with the production team to meet project milestones and deadlines.


The Essentials
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in 3D character modeling, preferably within the video game industry or a combination of education and experience.
  • A compelling portfolio that exhibits a range of character work and a mastery of modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and texturing tools like Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
  • Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine 4/5.
  • Strong grasp of character anatomy, proportions, and dynamic posing.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a talent for problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet production schedules.
