This position is 100% onsite in Salt Lake City FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The Senior Buyer / Planner is responsible for providing production support and coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Provide production support and coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, parts, supplies and services • Review requisitions and award purchase orders in accordance to knowledge of current fair market prices and price history • Determine the best method of procurement • Prepare purchase orders • Review bid proposals and maintain manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories • Review defective, unacceptable goods or services with users, suppliers and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action • Approve invoices for payment and contact suppliers to resolve invoicing issues • Expedite follow-up and receiving of materials, supplies and services in a timely manner to support JIT shipments • Process raw material requirements and purchase or ders • Complete data entry from receiving paperwork • Source, select and submit new suppliers • Request samples and applicable documentation from suppliers • Monitor quality and services from approved suppliers • Work on special assignments as they arise * Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications * • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the purchasing field • Strong organizational skills • High level of attention to detail • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to prioritize key business objectives and respond quickly to changing priorities • Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment •Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook Education and Experience • High School diploma; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred • Minimum 5 years of experience working in Purchasing or related areas • Working knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) •Experience with Oracle is preferred * Travel Requirements * • Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time Physical Requirements and Work Environment • This is largely a sedentary role. • This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
