Paralegal

A recognized consumer products company in New Jersey is looking to add a new Paralegal to their team.

Responsibilities:

The Paralegal will:

  • Assist in overseeing a broad portfolio of patents and trademarks
  • Review and filings, applications, contracts, agreements, letters, and other documents
  • Assist in managing invention records, assist in performing IP searches, and facilitate invention record review & selection for patent applications
  • Assist internal team and outside patent attorney with patent applications as needed
  • Facilitate communication with the Product Development team on issues, such as non-disclosure agreements, confidential disclosure agreements and contracts
  • Assist with the drafting of international distribution agreements, tracking regulatory requirements, and organizing and maintaining related files
  • Assist with the review and revision of retail marketing agreements, retail marketing collateral and labels, paying particular attention to the accuracy of trademark attributions
  • Conduct research and resolve routine legal questions
  • Effectively and timely communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, outside counsel, courts, government agencies
  • Professionally draft email and other communications internally and externally
  • Participate in and lead meetings as required, both virtually and in person
  • Review and update legal and administrative documents, including policies
  • Review and process legal invoices once approved by applicable attorney, including tracking ongoing budgets on a matter by matter basis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of related Legal experience
  • Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field
  • Proficiency with Contract Lifecycle Management software
  • Microsoft Office proficient (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and related software)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
Desired Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience as a Paralegal, including experience in an In-House Legal Department
  • Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies and/or a related field
  • Paralegal certification
  • Working knowledge and experience in a broad range of substantive areas with a strong focus on Intellectual Property Portfolio Management, International Distribution, Retail Marketing, and Contract Review & Management
