Accounting Manager

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to be a key member of the Corporate Controller's group at TEGNA's Corporate Headquarters in Tysons, VA. This position offers a hybrid work environment and reports to the Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation processes in a timely manner and with a high level of precision and accuracy;
  • Managing the month and/or quarter-end close process for allocations, deferred revenue, one-time items, and non-operating items;
  • Managing the share-based accounting and related reporting processes, including stock based compensation, basic and diluted shares, and share buybacks;
  • Managing and reviewing account reconciliations;
  • Managing and reviewing the calculations of non-GAAP financial metrics;
  • Managing the estimate and budget process for certain Corporate Accounting areas;
  • Assisting with the management of key projects related to accounting transactions, adoption of accounting and other unique accounting items;
  • Assisting with the preparation, review and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K;
  • Managing changes and updates to the Oracle accounting system including ERP and EPM;
  • Interacting and coordinating with personnel in various corporate functional areas, business units, and other internal/external personnel (including external auditors) to ensure smooth closes and proper accounting for areas of responsibility and responding to auditor inquiries and requests.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting;
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience at either a national accounting firm or financial consolidations and reporting experience with SEC filers;
  • Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM;
  • CPA license;
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability (identify problems and develop/implement solutions);
  • Ability to take ownership and drive projects/issues to completion;
  • Flexibility, team loyalty, and strong leadership skills.
