The Vice President of Engineering will lead the remote, globally distributed software development organization for the Brandwatch CI and Insights products. This role involves strategic planning, overseeing the software development lifecycle, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. Reporting to the CPTO, this position collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance product quality and accelerate delivery. They spearhead a culture of continuous improvement and are regularly looking at ways to optimize the way we work. Key responsibilities include building healthy teams, mentoring engineers, implementing best practices, and staying abreast of industry trends.

The ideal candidate has a strong track record of leading large engineering teams, scaling processes, and delivering complex SaaS products. You are a strategic leader who can balance technical depth with business acumen and are passionate about creating a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

This role is open to candidates based in New York, Chicago, and Boston.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations
    • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software products
    • Establish project timelines, allocate resources, monitor progress to meet deadlines, and communicate status
    • Provide oversight of the overall technology stack and product architecture to ensure scalability, flexibility, and sustainability.
    • Ensure adherence to best practices in software development and architecture. Lead a data driven approach to performance and delivery, establishing KPIs that help the organization understand the impact and performance of engineering
    • Serve as a strong partner to Product Management, Design and Operations, ensuring alignment between engineering and business objectives
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to define long-term technology vision and goals
    • Maintain and grow a strong engineering leadership team. Lead, mentor, and manage remote, globally distributed software engineering teams
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
    • Foster a One-Team culture across Product, Engineering and Design
    • Lead initiatives for process improvements and automation to streamline operations, managing teams through change with transparency and clear expectations
    • Respected as a technology and people leader, able to provide both technical and management guidance to your org. Identify potential risks related to software development and implement mitigation strategies to address them proactively
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the organization


Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
    • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 8 years in a leadership role and 3+ years in a senior leadership role
    • Proven track record of managing large-scale SaaS development projects. Remote team leadership preferred.
    • Strong technical acumen with full stack experience, with a strong preference for experience in big data, data science and machine learning.
    • Deep understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps, etc.).
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring and developing engineering talent
    • Ability to influence and drive cross-functional collaboration
    • Experience in strategic planning and execution, with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges
    • A strong commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture
    • Ability to perform in a fast paced, frequently evolving environment


$230,000 - $300,000 a year

For Individuals based in New York Cision is required to disclose a salary range for this role. The base compensation range of $230,000 - $300,000 is specific to New York, however base pay may vary depending on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, skill sets, training, licensure, and other business and organizational needs. Additionally, well-qualified candidates may receive incentives outside of base pay, including an annual performance bonus. All offers will include competitive benefits, including healthcare and a 401k plan and company match. This salary range only applies to applicants based in New York. Applicants in different locations may have a higher or lower salary range.
