This role serves as a strategic partner to the IT Organization and collaborates closely with key enabling functions like HR, Finance, Legal, and Communications, supporting organizational and operational excellence. The Director oversees IT Operating Model enhancements through continuous improvement, including the development and improvement of related IT products and services. They partner with and provide voice-of-the-customer and improvement recommendations to IT in partnership with IT Strategy Management, Enterprise Architecture, Lean Agile CoE, Portfolio Management, IT Compliance, and Internal Audit to establish and refine policies, standards, processes, and guidelines that optimize IT operations. The Director identifies and drives key improvement opportunities, championing transformation efforts to increase quality, delivery, and organizational throughput. This role requires strong leadership, communication, strategic insight, and expertise in IT operating models, with accountability for business outcomes achieved through team leadership, resource management, and change initiatives.Accountable for business results primarily achieved through the work of others. Manages staff, sets direction, and deploys resources. Has responsibility for employee development, performance reviews, pay reviews, and staffing decisions. Accountable for business, functional or operational areas, processes, or programs.Key ResponsibilitiesLeads managers and IT professionals through guidance, coaching, and support to ensure assignments are completed in accordance with established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Understands the overall organizational vision and translates it into team goals aligned with departmental and organizational goals. Creates a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement and leads teams through periods of change and transformation.Establishes and oversees IT Operational Excellence related frameworks, processes, training curriculum, and KPIs through defined Objectives and Key Results.Collaborates and provides strategic guidance to key stakeholders, department heads, and senior management on operating model and technology-related matters including risks, opportunities, potential impacts, and prioritization. Ensures cost-effective solutions are in place to meet those needs and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities.Oversees the planning, design, implementation, and measurement of IT systems and ensures a balance between growing the agility required to achieve business objectives and ensuring core IT functions are reliable, stable, secure and efficient.Provides guidance on the implementation of large or complex projects and oversees progression while ensuring the related portfolio initiatives are managed effectively through governance and planning processes. Engages in initiatives as needed to facilitate the realization of value and works with sponsorship to evaluate the achievement of value.Manages the associated budget(s) and financial resources including but not limited to technology services, software, hardware, and expense tracking ensuring the most effective use to maximize outcomes.Stays abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes, and provides direction on which emerging capabilities should be introduced, integrated, and assimilated to improve operational effectiveness, efficiency and manage risk.Participates in the evaluation and selection of vendors, review of contracts and management of vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and reliable IT services and solutions.Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders on the recommended updates to the IT Operating Model and related roadmaps, to include IT’s alignment with MPC’s value streams.Collaborates on the development of IT policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring they are up to date and in line with area of responsibility and industry standards. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards.Collaborates with management on recommended operating model design options to meet business objectives. Leads the organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transition with minimal disruption. Aligns and streamlines related process execution and partners on driving continuous improvement opportunities.Collaborates with HR on IT people system initiatives to include related frameworks, training programs, and enabling third party partners.Responsible for recruitment, development, retention, performance management, and succession planning that will lead to a strong talent pipeline. Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.12+ years of diversified IT experience required.5+ years managing first level leaders and high-level professional staff required.Applied experience leading transformation initiatives to enable greater business agility.Applied experience and understanding of operational excellence with an emphasis on IT Operating Model.Applied experience architecting future state IT Operating Model options and go-forward plans.Applied experience establishing and developing trusted internal and external partnership relationships.SkillsStrategic Outlook - Examines issues, generates ideas, creates future scenarios, and develops plans with a long-term perspective.
