Simply put, we take care of our advisors, so they can take care of their clients.Job Overview:Under the direction of Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel, the attorney in this position will provide pragmatic legal advice and counsel to Human Resources partners and other corporate departments. We are seeking a lawyer with three plus years of employment law experience. Experience providing advice in the financial services industry is preferred but not required. Responsibilities:Provide day-to-day counseling on employment matters to Human Resources partners. Advise Human Resources and business partners on employee matters such as terminations, restructurings, lay-offs, discipline, leaves of absence and accommodations as well as compliance with applicable federal and state employment statutes. Handle administrative matters at federal and state agencies such as the EEOC, or California DFEH or DLSE; oversee outside counsel handling employment litigation. Draft and advise on employment related documents such as offer letters, employment agreements, incentive compensation plans, retention agreements, and separation agreements. Remain informed and update Human Resources partners on legal, regulatory and other developments in the employment law arena; anticipate their potential impact on the company’s operations and strategy; and provide counsel to business and human resources to effectively manage these issues. Draft and update Human Resources policies to comply with applicable laws and reflect legal developments.
