Cardiology Program Director
Dignity Health Medical Group - in partnership with Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix is actively seeking an experienced cardiology physician leader to serve as the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program Director.
The Program Director of Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program is directly accountable to the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) at Creighton University School of Medicine- Phoenix and the Chair at the training site where they are primarily based/employed. The Program Director will be provided with the required protected, non-clinical time dedicated to administration of the program. The Cardiovascular Disease Program is a three-year, twelve fellow program with initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
As a clinically active cardiologist, this physician leader will play a vital role in our growing cardiovascular division within Dignity Health Medical Group. Our team is committed to delivering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, encompassing robust structural heart programs, complex PCI, and the management of a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including cardiomyopathies, pulmonary hypertension, right ventricular dysfunction, cardiogenic shock, and durable LVAD management.
The primary clinic location is located on the campus of St Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The group provides a comprehensive array of services with continued growth into the structural and interventional fields.
In 2017, Creighton University, St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center, Valleywise Health Medical Center, District Medical Group, and Dignity Health Medical Group entered a strategic partnership to strengthen and expand the Graduate Medical Education programs offered by each institution. The move brought together the administration of the residency and fellowship programs previously managed by each member under the Arizona Health Education Alliance, with Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix serving as the sponsoring entity. St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center and Valleywise Health Medical Center will be the primary clinical sites. Creighton University School of Medicine-Phoenix is dedicated to training future generations of doctors who will lead the nation in providing outstanding hospital-based, ambulatory, and subspecialty care. Dignity Health Medical Group is an affiliate member of the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance, giving Creighton learners in Phoenix access to state-of-the-art facilities with knowledgeable practitioners. Through the partnership, Creighton residents, fellows and students gain essential patient-care experience in prominent Phoenix facilities from world-class faculty. Creighton University opened their Phoenix Health Science Campus in 2021 with a full Phoenix presence including a four-year medical school, accelerated nursing program, doctor of pharmacy program, doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy, and master of physician assistant studies, just next door to St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center campus. Qualifications
Requirements
- MD or DO degree and current certification in Cardiovascular Disease by the American Board of
Internal Medicine or by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine or subspecialty qualifications that are acceptable to the Review Committee.
- Current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment.
- Specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or cardiovascular disease fellowship.
- Ongoing clinical activity and ongoing academic achievements in cardiovascular disease, including publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research.
- Must have or be eligible for State of Arizona medical licensure.
- Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals and Valleywise Health Medical Center.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed between clinical training sites.
