Responsibilities
Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients under supervision and responsibility of a physician.
- Provides patient care within the scope of practice as set forth by the Arizona Board of Physician Assistants.
- Gathers medical history, performs physical examinations, formulates differential diagnosis and establishes a treatment plan in collaboration with the treating physician and nursing staff.
- Conducts daily patient rounds.
- Recognizes and evaluates situations in which immediate medical attention of a supervising physician is required for which treatment is essential for the life of patients and responds in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Orders, radiographic reviewing and interprets laboratory and other diagnostic tests within scope of practice.
- Follows up, instructs and counsels patients and their family regarding the diagnosis, treatment plan and medications.
- Coordinates with supervising physicians regarding patient admissions in hospital and provides necessary action and information to supervising physicians.
- Formulates discharge plan and works in collaboration with case management to ensure safe, timely discharge.
- Completes hospital and department documentation legibly, accurately and within designated time frame.
- Prescribes and dispenses drugs and medical devices in accordance with regulations established by Arizona State Board of Nursing, Arizona PMP and Medicare, Medicaid Guidelines.
- May or may not have surgical first assist skills.
Qualifications
MINIMUM
Degree as a Physician Assistant
AZ state Physician Assistant License
NCCPA certification
DEA: AZ
American Heart Association BLS card
American Heart Association ACLS card
Credentialed as allied health professional
PREFERRED
1 year of advanced practice experience in neurosurgery
Pay Range
$42.69 - $71.73 /hour
