Principal Research Scientist -Product Sustainability

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated technical leader to guide our research and standards team focused on product sustainability. In the role of Principal Research Scientist, you will be pivotal in conducting research and analysis to support the development and implementation of sustainability standards and services. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide technical expertise, drive innovation, and contribute to advancing sustainable practices across industries.
Responsibilities

Conduct Research and Analysis: Lead research projects to assess and enhance sustainability practices across various industries. Analyze industry trends, evaluate the environmental and social impacts of different processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Develop Sustainability Standards and Frameworks: Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and refine sustainability standards. This includes reviewing literature, analyzing best practices, and contributing to the creation of guidelines and criteria for sustainable practices.

Stay Current on Sustainability Trends and Regulations: Keep up-to-date with emerging regulations, industry standards, and best practices in sustainability. Apply this knowledge to inform the development of services and standards.

Provide Technical Expertise: Support the creation and implementation of sustainability services, including assessments, certifications, and reporting. Offer technical guidance to both internal teams and clients on sustainability-related issues and opportunities.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work alongside consultants, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality sustainability services. Share knowledge and contribute to the overall success of sustainability projects.

Communicate Research Findings: Prepare and present research results to internal teams, management, and external stakeholders. Effectively communicate the environmental and social impacts of various practices and propose strategies for improvement.

Foster Partnerships and Collaborations: Build and maintain relationships with external partners, research institutions, and industry organizations. Collaborate on joint research initiatives to stay at the forefront of sustainability practices and innovations.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in sustainability, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. A strong background in sustainability research and standards development is preferred.
- Proven experience in conducting research and analysis related to sustainability, including industry assessments, benchmarking, and best practice analysis.
- In-depth understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks, and relevant regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools, data analysis software, and other relevant software applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
