Stormwater Management Inspector/Trainer

Thompson Engineering's Ridgeland, MS office is seeking a Construction Stormwater Management Inspector/Trainer. This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement. The successful candidate will work with a team of environmental professionals performing environmental compliance inspections for the transportation industry. Overnight travel within Mississippi is required with occasional overnight travel out of state. Training will be provided, as well as the possibility of work from home options, as experience and knowledge are acquired.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Inspect work in progress to ensure conformance with plans and specifications, storm water permits, SWPPPs and ECPs
- Works with and communicates with clients and client representatives
- Prepares and maintains required reports of construction storm water inspection activities
- Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship
- Assists in performing presentations and training of MDOT and contractor personnel in construction stormwater management.
- Drives company vehicle safely to and from worksites.
Other Responsibilities
- Conduct all work activities in compliance with Thompson Holdings, Inc. Health, Safety & Environmental Management System, safety policies & procedures, safety execution plans and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses.
- Attend and pro-actively participate in monthly safety meetings, project toolbox safety meetings and safety moments.
- Ensures on time and regular attendance
- Other duties as required
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Two-year or four-year degree in Environmental Science, Geology or related field or Civil Engineering preferred.
- Four years of experience in construction inspection, or a combination of experience and education in a related field of study.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing
- Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Transportation and/or roadway construction experience preferred.
- CPESC and/or UAV certifications a plus
- Experience and familiarity with interpreting environmental regulations and specifications a plus
- Valid Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in the outside elements of the field up to 80% of the time
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
- Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day
- Must be able to bend, stoop and climb on a ladder.
