Altasciences is seeking a dedicated Clinical Veterinarian to join our team and contribute to the health and well-being of laboratory animals used in scientific studies.

What You'll Do Here

  • Provide comprehensive veterinary care, including medical, dental, imaging, and surgical services, specifically tailored for nonhuman primates (NHPs) onsite.
  • Demonstrate professional leadership in managing and resolving complex medical cases, ensuring the highest standards of animal care.
  • Collaborate with our team to maintain compliance with federal regulations governing the ethical and humane treatment of laboratory animals.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to animal welfare and care.
  • Support the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee by participating in protocol reviews, addressing animal colony issues, and providing expert consultations.
  • Manage clerical and administrative tasks related to medical records, reports, and procedural documentation to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Implement preventive health programs, domestic isolation protocols, and medical care for colony/stock animals to promote overall animal well-being.
  • Engage in client interaction and contribute to business development initiatives to enhance our laboratory animal science services.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Laboratory Animal Medicine, with a focus on NHPs.
  • State License in Veterinary Medicine is required, or a willingness to obtain licensure in Washington state within one year.
  • ACLAM board certification or eligibility is preferred, demonstrating a commitment to excellence in laboratory animal medicine.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts for interpreting scientific studies, dose calculations, and related skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, staff, and regulatory authorities.

 

What We Offer

The pay range estimated for this position is $140,000 to $180,000 per year.  Please note that hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location as well as internal equity and market data.
