JOB DESCRIPTION:

Title: Corporate Sales Manager

Department: Sales and Manager

Develops and implements the total sales and marketing effort of hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotels while maintaining guest satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Implements effective sales and marketing strategies and to maximize the generation of hotels' sales/revenues.
  • Actively acquire new business and maintain existing accounts through cold calling, prospecting, planned sales calls, direct mail campaigns, and telephone solicitations
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key clients in order to produce Corporate sales and/or convention business, to include room sales, food & beverage sales, catering/banquet services.
  • Quote and negotiate prices within established parameters. Upon booking, prepare sales contracts, co-ordinate and follow-up with convention services, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of promised service as originally agreed upon.
  • Assists General Managers in the development and update of the hotel-level business plans to include input on sales goals and plans that support the overall business and sales strategies of the company.
  • Develop quarterly action plans that addresses priorities and quotas and achieve sales activities as outlined in the hotels/individual action plans
  • Participate in business and industry related organizations, representing Hotels in a professional manner.
  • Coordinate and participate in sites, FAMs and industry / trade functions & shows
  • Utilize Property Sales System to track, solicit and follow up on accounts
  • Participate in prescribed Hotel/Brand training and special projects
  • Be independently responsible for achievement of all objectives outlined in the action plans
  • Ensure effective yield management for bookings produced and contracted
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required
  • Responsible for day-to-day duties of prospecting accounts, account development and site inspections
  • Acknowledge and monitor competition's sales and marketing strategies and collect market and competitive intelligence to assist in developing strategic plan

Health and Safety
  • Follow safe work procedures as per hotels' policy and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Know and comply with all Occupational Health & Safety regulations, as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Ministry of Labour.
  • Report all injuries or illnesses to a manager immediately.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee by bringing health and safety concerns or issues to the attention of the committee


Qualifications:

Education/ Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years' experience in sales and supervisory experience desirable. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance.

Certification and/or License Requirement: Alcohol awareness certification as required by provincial government agency.

Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.

Will be required to work in fast paced environment.

A majority of time will be spent selling and negotiating hotels' guestrooms and banquet facility and services, therefore a significant portion of time is spent speaking, listening, thinking, and writing.

A majority of time is spent conducting outside sales, therefore a significant amount of time is spent communicating and interacting with various people inside and outside of the hotel. This person will be listening and speaking to guests and staff, making quick decisions and using problem-solving skills.

Reading and writing abilities are often used when communicating with the hotels' outlets and outside contacts when planning services, as well as to document any sales related activity.

A portion of time is spent moving about the assigned properties while conducting tours or meeting with assigned hotels' departments.

Travel is necessary in order to meet potential clients and to attend conventions and trade shows.

Mathematical skills, including basic math, problem solving, reasoning, negotiating, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, variances and percentages are often used.

This person will occasionally assist in breaking down or setting up of banquet space, or assist in food service, requiring lifting of up to 50 pounds.
