Casino M8trix is looking for a Director of Human Resources (HR) with outstanding people skills to join our diverse team and exciting environment to manage our personnel and ensure that our human resources programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned with overall business objectives.

Candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the HR department and carry out responsibilities in all functional HR areas including recruiting, benefits, organizational development, leave management, and employee relations. Candidate must be capable of operating with independent, mindful judgment in this position, while developing policy, directing and coordinating all HR activities, such as compensation, employee retention and relations, performance management, legal compliance, and employee services by performing the duties personally or through other personnel and supervisors. The HR Director will supervise a team of two to three HR professionals in conjunction with the company's mission, vision, and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Be 21 years of age or over.
  • Must be willing to undergo and successfully pass an in-depth background check.
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources, or equivalent of education and experience in the Human Resources function.

Duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

Talent Selection and Onboarding:
  • Oversees recruiting, interviewing and candidate selection, as well as the onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Assist management in various projects such as job descriptions, performance evaluations, compensation issues, etc.
  • Oversee the job posting process for effectiveness and legal adherence.
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's culture and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Develop and lead orientation and onboarding sessions for new hires.

Benefits Administration:
  • Oversees the leave of absence and benefit functions, as well as Worker's Compensation.

Performance Management & Talent Development:
  • Reviews all employee disciplinary procedures and makes recommendations to ensure that they comply with acceptable employee relations principles. Make final recommendations to President/General Manager, Officers, Directors, Managers, Leads, and relevant supervisory personnel in termination proceedings.

Employee Relations:
  • Meet with employees and help resolve grievances or concerns that may arise, and to serve as a facilitator when needed.
  • Oversees the proper processing of employee separation notices and related documentation and represents the organization at hearings and investigations.
  • Counsel management and staff on employee relations and HR related legal compliance.
  • Conduct or assist as needed or requested in the investigation of incidents or complaints.

Compliance / Policy / Procedure:
  • Writes directives advising department heads on company policy, which may include topics such as: EEOC, compensation, benefits, and disciplinary matters.
  • Consults with legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.
  • Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with all Garden City, Inc. dba Casino M8trix operating policies, procedures, practices, and internal control protocols including a familiarity with cash and chip control procedures.
  • Serves as a conduit of information for President/General Manager, Vice Presidents, Officers, Directors, and Managers and presents recommendations for greater efficiency of the organization.
  • Follow detailed procedures and ensure accuracy in documentation and data; carefully monitor processes; concentrate on routine work details and organize and maintain a system of records.
  • Assist President/General Manager/Vice Presidents as requested or as needed.
  • Interprets, maintains knowledge of, and ensures compliance with all applicable California and San Jose gaming regulations, including Title 16, Minimum Internal Control Standards, State Gaming Regulations, and other City, State, and Federal laws and regulations.

Employee Engagement:
  • Foster and promote a strong culture that aligns with company values, emphasizing continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Collaborate with management to coordinate staff events.

HR Administration:
  • Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of personnel records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization.
  • Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs.
  • Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plan.
  • Prepares budget for the Human Resources department.

Responsible for and directs all duties described above, in a hands-on manner, while providing leadership, and positioning Casino M8trix as a great place to work.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and various legal documents.

  • Ability to write and present speeches, and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to present information to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Directors.
  • Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems as well as deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must possess a great deal of tact and above average communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of HRIS and payroll interfaces.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Team, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to adhere to and maintain strict confidentiality standards.
  • Bi-lingual - while not a requirement, this is a definite plus! Our employees speak a wide variety of languages, such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Cantonese, Tagalog, and more.

Work Hours and Availability:

This position works 100% on-site in the Human Resources office at Casino M8trix, Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM; some flexibility is required.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay scale for this position is: $120,000 - $175,000 annually. Compensation is based on experience. Employee benefits are available for all qualifying full-time employees, including paid time off, medical, vision, dental, and life insurance. In addition, employees receive a 20% discount on food, non-alcoholic beverages, and Casino M8trix merchandise.
