Training Development Manager- East Hartford , Connecticut **No Remote Option**

Vertex Professional Services (VPS) is hiring a Training Development Manager in the East Hartford, Connecticut area. This position requires a high level of leadership and client interface at all levels of the organization. The incumbent must possess the ability to manage all program aspects including implementation, budget, schedule, deliverables, customer relationship/interface, and direct activities of the staff. This individual will be responsible for client relationship development as well as day-to-day operations, including consultations with clients to help identify operational and strategic training support. Responsible for cost saving initiatives. Responsible to maintain compliancy in partnership with VPS and our clients.

Additional responsibilities include assessing project issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, client satisfaction goals and objectives. This position also requires the candidate to perform instructional systems design tasks, including analyzing, designing, and developing creative and innovative learning solutions as part of a cross-functional team. The courseware may be produced for many different industries and in a variety of delivery media.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing mechanisms for monitoring project progress, interventions and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Client interface, business development, strategic planning, and integration of activities across customer sites, project strategy, resource and staffing plans, team leadership, schedule management, profit and loss, performance assessment, and project control.
  • Managing project team (both remote and in person), including staff selection, training, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Managing financial processes for the program, working closely with the client and VPS leadership.
  • Facilitating workflow and ensuring compliance with VPS and client policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing team's work products to ensure instructional soundness and quality.
  • Ability to design and develop innovative training solutions across all potential media [instructor-led (in-person and virtual), web-based, video, job aids, etc.]
  • Working with client subject matter experts to obtain content information needed for training solutions


Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 4 years of overall management experience, to include supervising teams.
  • Ability to develop across a variety of media modalities.
  • Ability to conduct quality reviews on the team's instructional design work products.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Experience in a consultative role
  • Demonstrated tactical planning and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to utilize a system-level approach, including integration and leverage of resources.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Articulate Storyline 360
  • Excellent organization skills


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Business Management, or related field
