We are looking for a dynamic and experienced HSEQ Advisor to join our team!

RPM is a Sub-Sector within Earth & Environment in WSP Canada. What You Can Expect to Do:
  • HSEQ Management: Provide expert HSEQ advice and support to project teams, ensuring client contractual, regulatory and corporate compliance while fostering, and celebrating a culture of safety excellence.
  • Project Planning: Most of our field work in RPM is in a Prime Contractor capacity. Participate in project planning meetings to integrate HSEQ considerations into HSEQ execution plans.
  • Human Performance (HP): Integrate HP principles into our safety programs, focusing on human factors and organizational performance.
  • Lean & Six Sigma: Apply lean and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance procedure creation, review and execution.
  • System Development: Support in the development and implementation of cutting-edge HSEQ management systems, leveraging Microsoft Automate and emerging technologies.
  • Safety Culture: Promote a positive safety culture through effective communication, engagement, and visible leadership.
  • Subcontractor Evaluation: Review and collaborate with subcontractors to ensure their HSEQ programs align with our WSP and client standards and requirements.
  • Incident Management: Work alongside our dedicated Site Supervisors, and help lead thorough incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
  • Client Interaction: Build and nurture strong relationships with both internal and external clients, acting as the face of our HSEQ initiatives.
  • Training & Development: Champion HSEQ training programs to elevate the awareness, skills and applied competence of our teams.
  • Site Audits, Verification and Validation: Plan-Do-Check-Act. Do we do, what we say? Take your extended knowledge, verify and validate our corrective actions in documentation and field review. Conduct proactive site visits to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop, monitor, and report on HSEQ performance metrics and KPIs to senior leadership as well as transparency into our overall group.
  • Visible Felt Leadership: Demonstrate visible felt leadership through active engagement with staff, leading by example, and fostering a positive safety culture and experience.
  • Digital Tools: Drive the implementation of modern digital tools to enhance HSEQ processes and data management.
  • Corporate Alignment: Interface with our corporate HSEQ team to stay aligned with corporate policies, procedures, and tools, ensuring our group's compliance and application of best practices.
  • Gap Analysis: Conduct gap analyses between corporate HSEQ requirements and external clients' needs, adopting the best overall approach to meet both client and corporate HSEQ criteria.

Skills and Attributes:
  • Leadership: Inspirational leader with a passion for HSEQ and the ability to motivate and guide teams.
  • Communication: Excellent communicator who can engage with a variety of interested parties across multiple disciplines.
  • Project Management: Adept at managing multiple HSEQ projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HSEQ management systems, risk assessment techniques, sound methods in auditing and human performance principles.
  • Digital Savvy: Proficient in modern digital tools, including advanced Excel skills, databases, Microsoft Automate and emerging technologies.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop effective solutions to complex challenges.
  • People Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills for dealing with diverse personalities and building strong business relationships.
  • Flexibility: Ability to travel to project sites across Canada as required.

Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Industry Knowledge: You are an experienced HSE professional, with a role as an Advisor or Manager within the energy, industrial construction, or environmental sectors.
  • Professional Designation: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent.
  • Legislation Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of HSE legislation and regulatory requirements across Canada.
  • Client Focus: Proven experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
