As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you'll contribute to the evaluation of storage technologies, electrical design, testing coordination, and technical support for project implementation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluation and Design:
- Evaluate storage technologies with respect to project goals and assess various storage technologies including modules, DC components, inverters, racking, BESS containers, BESS balance of plant equipment, and medium voltage systems plus recommend suitable components for BESS projects.
- Design AC and DC electrical systems, including the creation of single-line schematics and circuit diagrams.
- Conduct electrical studies and perform site investigations and inspections as needed.
- Review and incorporate electrical studies including ampacity studies, load flow, reactive power capability, short circuit, grounding, arc flash
Testing and Support:
- Plan and execute electrical tests (FAT/SAT) on BESS systems to ensure functionality and safety.
- Document test results meticulously, offering technical support and collaborating with different departments as required.
- Plan electrical tests on BESS or its subsystems at test bench or on site.
Reporting and Communication:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing transparent communication regarding project updates and requirements.
- Write test reports and make the necessary recommendations
- Technical support to the different departments involved in the advancement and implementation of projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited university.
- Possess experience in protection and control, power systems, and LV and MV system design.
- Preferable to have knowledge of Microgrids.
- Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PSCAD, ETAP, and CYME.
- Advantageous to have familiarity with protection relays (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB) and Professional Engineer (P. Eng) registration.
- Desirable to have experience with power device interfaces and BESS systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective team collaboration.
