We are seeking a Privacy Program Manager to join our Remediation Operations (RemOps) Team, to be based in San Jose, CA, with a focus on leading transformative initiatives across the organization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in implementing large, cross-functional, and time-sensitive programs to deliver strategic priorities, ensuring compliance with global privacy laws, and promoting the adoption of best practices. This role involves handling urgent and cross-functional privacy preparedness and remediation efforts, requiring collaboration with global colleagues, TikTok executives, legal and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management & Risk Remediation: Lead the ideation, technical design, launch, and validation of strategic transformation and remediation efforts across the organization.
- Team & Process Scaling: Lead the development of PDPO's Remediation Operations (RemOps) capability, including all aspects of documentation, tooling and team configuration.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between executives, technical teams, legal, and other internal/external stakeholders on privacy matters. Comfortable speaking externally if required.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with global privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant standards.
- Risk Management: Evaluate and manage risks associated with data protection and privacy in a timely and effective manner.
- Education & Training: Develop and deliver privacy training materials for internal teams.
- Privacy-by-Design: Advocate for, enforce, and implement 'privacy-by-design' throughout the product development cycle.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for privacy practices, protocols, and data flows.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest privacy technology solutions and best practices, contributing to TikTok's continual improvement in privacy approach.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years in compliance, auditing, consulting, technical program management, driving strategic initiatives or industry equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in privacy or security compliance with a proven track record of driving programs and initiatives.
- 1+ year technical experience including Software Development, TPM, etc.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, and directing cross functional teams through ambiguity.
- Able to handle uncertain situations and adapt to changing priorities. Ownership with exceptional bias for action; self-starter with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong understanding of privacy regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and global privacy standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage leadership at all levels throughout the organization
- 3+ years of technical experience including Software Development, TPM, etc.
- Relevant certifications in privacy and data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, OSCP) are a plus.
- Experience with data protection impact assessments
- Knowledge of TikTok products and services
- 5+ years related professional experience
