Weber Shandwick is seeking a Director of Engineering to join our product team. You will be joining a team of business analysts, data analysts, data scientists, data engineers, technology leads, and product managers to build innovative data solutions that enable the Analytics and Intelligence teams across The Weber Shandwick Collective to deliver industry-leading insights to our clients.

The Director of Engineering will design, build, test, implement, deploy and maintain data solutions. The incumbent will work with multiple technology partners to provision and maintain a data infrastructure used for social media analysis. The role will work closely with solution architects, product managers, technology leads, and data scientists to ensure the platform meets business demands.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, technology leads, analysts, and data engineers to design and implement data processing solutions primarily using Python, Apache Airflow, and Kubernetes.
  • Build and maintain efficient data pipelines that process large volumes of data, ensuring data quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Optimize and fine-tune data processing workflows to improve performance and reduce processing time.
  • Understand and help manage a large codebase with several moving parts that work seamlessly together.
  • Understand and own the CI/CD pipelines to deploy machine learning models, Airflow worker pods, and standalone python applications within Kubernetes.

Essential Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience on an engineering team using proven, industry-leading cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • Proficiency coding in Python, R or equivalent and SQL
  • Creative-minded individual, enjoys open-ended problems and challenging the status quo
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to conduct independent work and manage projects from beginning to end


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant GCP or AWS certifications
  • Experience with social media data and APIs
  • Experience working in a consulting company or agency

NYC Salary range: $115,000 - $140,000

Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
