As a Country HR Business Partner at Groupon, you will form strategic partnerships with key business leaders to align talent strategies with business goals. In this role, you'll drive local engagement efforts, offer guidance to middle management on employee matters, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. You will lead employee relations, identify and address training needs, manage investigations, and spearhead HR process improvements across your assigned countries.

As a Country HR Business Partner at Groupon, you will form strategic partnerships with key business leaders to align talent strategies with business goals. In this role, you'll drive local engagement efforts, offer guidance to middle management on employee matters, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards. You will lead employee relations, identify and address training needs, manage investigations, and spearhead HR process improvements across your assigned countries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Business Partnership: Cultivate strong relationships with business leaders to align talent strategies with organizational priorities.
- Employee Engagement: Collaborate with Country Leaders on engagement survey communication and action planning to promote talent retention and development.
- Training & Development: Assess coaching needs and lead local workshops, including mandatory country-specific training (e.g., Health & Safety).
- Employee Relations: Address and resolve employee relations issues, including handling grievances and investigations, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Policy Guidance: Provide expert advice on HR policies related to business restructures, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Compliance: Stay up-to-date on legal requirements for employee management, working closely with internal legal teams and external experts to mitigate risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HRIS, Finance, Legal, and business units to implement and uphold global HR policies within the region.
- Project Management: Lead and contribute to key HR initiatives, including standardized reporting, best practices development, and managing termination processes.
Required Skills:
- 8+ years of HR experience in a strategic business partner role or similar capacity.
- Expert knowledge of employment laws and regulations within the assigned countries, with a proven ability to interpret and apply legal requirements.
- Proven track record in implementing HR policies, frameworks, and best practices that align with local and global business goals.
- Strong leadership coaching skills, particularly for middle management, focusing on leadership development and employee growth.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to drive HR initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Clear and concise communication skills to explain complex HR topics to diverse audiences, including senior leaders.
- Experience in resolving complex employee relations issues, including managing grievances and investigations.
- Advanced problem-solving abilities to assess situations from multiple perspectives and implement effective solutions.
- Knowledge of change management principles to support business transitions, with an emphasis on employee impact and adaptation.
- Intercultural communication skills to navigate diverse teams and adjust HR practices to various cultural contexts.
- High emotional intelligence to handle sensitive employee issues with discretion, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with EU-based leadership, especially leaders from Eastern Europe or the Middle East.
- Resilience to ambiguity and patience in upskilling management on HR best practices.
- A creative, solution-oriented mindset with the courage to challenge the status quo and implement innovative approaches within HR.
