The Director of Human Resources is a Critical Role in the Mission:
The Director of HR plays a vital role in building and sustaining a strong, engaged workforce that is essential for fulfilling the mission of Guest House of Milwaukee in creating lasting change for individuals facing housing insecurity.
Talent Acquisition: The Director of HR will attract and retain top talent, ensuring the organization has skilled staff committed to addressing homelessness and supporting vulnerable community members.
Policy Development: By implementing and enforcing personnel policies, the Director ensures compliance with regulations while fostering an environment that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
Employee Development: Focused on training and professional growth, the Director helps staff build the skills necessary to provide high-quality services, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the organization's programs.
Employee Relations: Serving as a mediator for employee concerns, the Director fosters a positive workplace culture that enhances morale and productivity, vital for maintaining a motivated team in a challenging field.
Performance Management: By guiding managers through performance reviews and strategies, the Director ensures that employee goals align with organizational objectives, promoting continuous improvement in service delivery.
Safety and Compliance: The Director oversees safety training and compliance, ensuring a safe working environment that allows staff to focus on their mission without unnecessary risk.
Strategic HR Initiatives: Partnering with leadership, the Director provides insights from HR analytics to inform decision-making and align HR strategies with the organization's long-term goals, reinforcing its mission.

HRIS Management: Effective management of HR data supports strategic decision-making and operational efficiency, ensuring the organization can respond effectively to the needs of both employees and clients.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, with previous experience in a non-profit desired.
Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
Previous management experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to individuals at all levels.
High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities efficiently and appropriately.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, and company policies to various HR scenarios.
Maintain a valid Wisconsin driver's license and reliable transportation.
