We are currently seeking a Managing Senior Director of Development. This position will support Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, which over the past century has evolved from a small training school to a school that graduates baccalaureate, master, and doctoral students. This position will report to the Senior Associate Vice President of Advancement for Woodruff Health Sciences. JOB DESCRIPTION: Leads, develops and implements strategies for identifying, cultivating, and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations, and foundations for gifts of $100K - $5M to support education, patient care, and research programs for a major unit/school. Solicits gifts of $100K - $5M in support of the school/unit. Manages a portfolio of prospects through an active schedule of solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship calls to donors and new prospects in support of strategic priorities. Develops school/unit strategic planning and goal setting. Builds relationships among prospective donors, alumni, and volunteers to support programs and priorities. Builds relationships with faculty, administrators, deans, and division/University leadership to develop, interpret, and align priorities of the school/unit with donor goals/interests. Partners with central advancement offices to ensure that potential gift prospects are properly qualified, cultivated, and stewarded. Develops and oversees writing/production of appropriate fundraising materials including, but not limited to, case statements, brochures, solicitation letters, gift proposals, appreciation letters, donor reports, and campaign status reports. Enforces the maintenance of information on selected donors and prospects including contact reports in CRM system. Communicates in ways that are donor-centric, while furthering the mission of Emory. Travels to meet with donors as needed. Manages a team of professionals that may include alumni engagement, advancement, and support staff. Manages the administrative operations of the school/unit advancement office and respective budgets. Performs related responsibilities as required. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: In addition to the duties outlined above, the Managing Senior Director may be required to: Meet division metrics for visit preparation, qualification, contact reports, visits, referrals, and accurate coding using the CRM system. Represent the department, school/unit, division, or University. Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with parents and families through ongoing cultivation and strategic stewardship. Leverage relationships and connections to strategically engage individual prospects or groups/networks. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree and eight years of experience in fundraising with management or leadership experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates will possess experience as lead solicitor, closing gifts of $100,000+ and $1M+ from prospects. Prior experience working with comprehensive campaigns, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting. Experience managing budgets and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems. Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience leading teams, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. Master’s level degree. Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills. Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion. Capacity to lead and develop a team’s skills through effective feedback and coaching, motivating and empowering colleagues while being institutionally minded, strategic, and impactful. Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines. NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department.
