With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role description:We are seeking a highly skilled part-time as-needed Principal Water Engineer to support our urban and community resilience initiatives at the forefront of climate adaptation and flood risk innovation in San Francisco. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in climate risk assessment, innovative engineering solutions, and project management in the water resources sector.Role accountabilities:Lead innovations in climate change vulnerability assessments and adaptation strategiesUtilize advanced modeling tools to evaluate climate model outputs and social vulnerability indicatorsTranslate climate research into actionable strategies for adaptation planningLead multi-hazard climate vulnerability assessments for public infrastructure projectsDevelop and implement climate risk indicators for multiple climate hazards, such as drought, flooding, extreme heat, and landslidesImplement nature-based solutions for stormwater and coastal flood risk reductionCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams on hydraulic, hydrologic, and coastal engineering projectsMinimum Qualifications:Master's or PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field10 years of experience in water resources engineering and climate adaptationKey Skills and Attributes:Expertise in data science tools, such as Python, NumPy, Matplotlib, and AWSProficiency in geospatial analysis tools, such as ArcGIS, GeoPandas, and RasterioExperience with hydraulic modeling software like HEC-RAS, SWMM5, and ADCIRCStrong project management and leadership skills in multidisciplinary environmentsWhy Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
