Join Gilead and help create possible, together.Job DescriptionScientist, Inflammation The Inflammation Biology group at Gilead Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our collaborative and interdisciplinary research team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting novel target identification and drug development to address clinical unmet need in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.  As a member of cross-functional teams, the candidate will use state-of-the-art technologies and innovative methodologies to develop new biochemical and cell-based assays to support identification of novel drugs for high value targets.  S/he will have opportunities for career growth in a fast-paced and resource-rich environment. Key ResponsibilitiesSuccessful candidates will work within project team-based structure to support advancement of early drug discovery programs. Responsibilities will include:Support innovative biochemical and cellular assay development to identify novel approaches to modulate high value targets for immunology and inflammation.Independently design, conduct, and analyze in vitro experiments to support target validation and therapeutic hypotheses.Proactively evaluate new technologies, develop new assays, and generate scientific hypotheses to enhance our understanding of disease pathogenesis.Work cross-functionally with colleagues in inflammation biology, biochemistry, structural and medicinal chemistry, and bioinformatic teams.Present findings and recommendations to project teams and senior staff, prepare research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and contribute the preparation of IND and patent filings.Knowledge, Experience, and SkillsPh.D. in immunology, molecular or cell biology, biochemistry, or related field; with 2+ years postdoctoral experience; OR Masters degree with 8-10 years industry experienceStrong background in biochemical or cell-based assay development and drug screening assays, molecular biology and/or cell signalingDemonstrated record of research productivity as evidenced by first-author publications in top-tier journals.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills and strong organizational skills are required.The salary range for this position is: $143,225.00 - $185,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
