*What you’ll be doing...*

As part of the Fraud Strategy organization, our Detection Strategy team is responsible for the detection of Account Takeover, Identify Theft, First Party Fraud, Never Pay, and Network Fraud across the VCG and VBG lines of business. As a Detection Strategy Consultant, you will be a Subject Matter Expert in the monitoring and researching of Fraud Trends and Anomalous Activity, partnering with sales channels, operations, and vendors to understand the internal changes and external influences on the business to minimize emerging threats.

You will have an extensive knowledge of the various order flows (e.g. Digital, Retail) and fraud tools; as well as strong collaborative partnerships with our GTS Data Science partners. You thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, can adapt to changing circumstances, and juggle competing priorities. You work with a sense of urgency and get personal satisfaction from analyzing problems and delivering solutions.

  • Become Subject Matter Expert in the evaluation of customer behavior and other patterns, distinguishing between fraud and not fraud, and partnering with our team and GTS Data Science to create solutions to prevent future fraud.

  • Learn and leverage ever-changing advanced analytical tools (e.g. Kibana, Neo4j, Qlik, etc.), analyzing data and clearly communicating findings to stakeholders.

  • React to anomalies in data that could result in fraud, take an active role in command center efforts of fraud attacks, drive rapid resolution for activity resulting in loss and adjust detection strategy to accommodate business events (iconic launch, holiday, etc).

  • Proactively explore new fraud trends based on your own processes and methodologies, plus work with partners across the Fraud organization to intake ideas of anomalous activities to research.

  • Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations communicating risks, mitigation efforts, and potential impacts to senior management.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Working knowledge of data analytics tools (Excel, Kibana, Qlik, Tableau, SQL), with the ability to perform in-depth analyses of large datasets to identify anomalies.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree or higher degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics or a related field.

  • Industry certification(s) such as Certified Business Intelligence Professional, Six Sigma, or CFE.

  • Experience detecting risk, assessing root causes, and proposing modifications to mitigate in a dynamic, fast-paced organization.

  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of Verizon ordering systems, Fraud Center processes with a strong appreciation of Customer Experience.

  • Three or more years of diverse experience in multiple fields, including Fraud, Security, Finance Operations, Project Management, and Customer Experience.

  • Experience designing, creating, and implementing complex solutions and analytics to assess risks and routine monitoring.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, complete important time-sensitive tasks, and adapt quickly to last-minute changes.

  • Advanced critical thinking skills, ability to work independently with limited guidance.

  • Excellent negotiation, strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to focus on the details.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
