Real Estate Title Examiner Searcher

Our Title Examiner/Searcher position will be responsible for assessing the validity and predicting the severity of title defects, and analyzing and settling claims resulting from title defects. This position will perform searches for real estate titles, real estate records, tax documentation, and other research related to escrow and title closings to prepare property reports. This is a full-time position Monday through Friday. Benefits are available and include: • Health Insurance • Health Savings Account • 401(k) • Paid Time Off • Paid Holidays • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability • Fitness Reimbursement • Employee Assistance Program Responsibilities: • Search real estate records and verify titles. • Search records available online, and at town, city, or county offices to compile a list of transactions regarding the property and names of involved parties. • Obtain copies of and examine mortgage documents, deeds, liens, taxes, court cases, judgments, easements, restrictions, and plats/maps to determine ownership, and encumbrances, and to verify legal descriptions of property. • Analyze the chain of title, and/or defects in the chain of title, and prepare reports outlining title-related matters. • Prepare property reports and title commitments. • Resolve any issues such as missing information, incomplete, inaccurate, or contradictory information contained in the title documentation. • Confer with attorneys, realtors, lending institution personnel, buyers, sellers, contractors, surveyors, and courthouse personnel to exchange title-related information or to resolve problems. • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • A minimum of 2 years experience, or relevant experience, with real estate title examining and searching. Pay is commensurate with experience. • Wisconsin and/or Minnesota Limited Line Title license, or the ability to obtain one. • A demonstrated ability to utilize computer software typical in the title and insurance industries, including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Qualia is a plus, but not required. • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in data entry. • Familiarity with property law is a plus. • Knowledge of and familiarity with online record-searching platforms. • Experience with in-person tract and index searching in the Office of the County Recorder or Register of Deeds. • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent River Valley Title Group professionally in interactions with clients and other external contacts. Compensation: $52,000 - $58,000 yearly

Compensation:
