Structured Cabling Director

As the Structured Cabling Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and installation of structured cabling systems for our clients. You'll oversee various cabling systems such as cat6, fiber, and coaxial, as well as security cameras, access control, and building out network closest and server rooms. Leading and supervising a team of cable technicians is part of your responsibility. Ensuring that all cabling infrastructure meets industry standards for performance, reliability, and safety is essential. This position demands strong technical proficiency, project management capabilities, and effective coordination with internal teams, external contractors, and clients.

- Design and Planning:
- Coordinate and oversee site surveys to assess cabling and infrastructure requirements.
- Own the process for gathering requirements and putting together quotes in a timely manner.
- Ensure that schematics, diagrams, and documentation are gathered and shared for all projects.
- Project Management:
- Responsible for the process of planning and managing structured cabling projects from inception to completion.
- Develop project timelines and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Installation and Implementation:
- Oversee the installation of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber-optic cables, racks, patch panels, termination points, security cameras, and access control systems.
- Ensure that all installations comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Supervise onsite technicians to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to project schedules.
- Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the team is performing comprehensive testing and certification of cabling infrastructure using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Assist troubleshooting and resolving issues related to cable connectivity, signal strength, and performance.
- Conduct post-installation inspections to very compliance with design specifications.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all cabling installations, including as-built drawings, cable schedules, and test results.
- Generate project reports, progress updates, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical documentation and training to support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Team Leadership:
- Conduct regular 1 on 1's and development planning meetings with your team.
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings reporting on performance as well as bringing issues to discuss with the broader team.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about industry trends, technology advancements, and the competitive landscape.
- Implement best practices in structured cabling practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime to meet project deadlines.
- Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and climb ladders as required.

Qualifications:
- 5+ Years experience in structured cabling technology.
- 5+ Years experience managing cable technicians.
- 5+ Years experience estimating structured cabling opportunities.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and developing high-performing cable technicians.
- BICSI or RCDD certifications a plus but not required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with Commercial contractors and business clients.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High energy and drive.
- Proficient with general office applications.
- Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.
- Skill in preparing written communications and materials.
- Interpersonal skills: such as telephony skills, communication skills, active listening and customer-care.
