Job Description
Michael Baker International is currently seeking a Drainage and Stormwater Engineer to join our Water Practice in Hamilton, NJ! This Civil Engineer must have over 5-years' experience and will work under the direction of Project Managers and Department Managers as a task leader and technical designer on drainage and stormwater management design for both civil roadway design projects such as roads, bridges, and airports as well as stand-alone roadway and riverine flood control projects.
You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to assist in the preparation of studies, construction documents, drawing, maps, reposts and supporting documentation and calculations as well as review other team's work. Depending on years' experience, will use or oversee CAD techniques as well as other specific drainage software packages to prepare design and construction documents. You may also be responsible for overall task management and coordinating the design, schedule and budget for the drainage designs. Strong communication skills and ability to work with and lead a team are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Most days will be spent in the office leading, reviewing, and preparing basic studies, construction documents, drawings, maps, reports and supporting documentation and calculations as well as coordinating with team members and CADD technicians to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation.
• You will also lead and assist with the preparation for regulatory agencies to obtain required permits.
• On some days, you will make field visits to project sites to investigate, record, and photograph local conditions.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, and 5+ years of related experience with drainage design, stormwater management and hydrology and hydraulics
• Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (EIT) and PE preferred
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of stormwater management and principles of hydrology and hydraulics of stormwater runoff.
• Organized, and determined, with the ability to multitask and prioritize competing project obligations.
• Strong English language skills, written and verbal, are essential to long term success in this role.
• Quickly get up to speed on our policy, procedures and relevant software, while acquiring an understanding of the company's service offerings, and the client's standards and procedures relevant to your projects.
• Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to utilize or oversee work in CAD software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation; Esri ArcGIS software; and have utilized H&H modeling software such as Hydraflow, PondPack and HEC-RAS.
• Familiar with Clients: NJDOT, NJTA, SJTA, NJTPA, NYCDEP, Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission, North Hudson Sewerage Authority City of Newark, FEMA, NJDEP, New Jersey American Water, County and Local MUAs, PANYNJ.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $90,000 to $113,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.
