Senior Electrochemical Engineer/Scientist

Join the dynamic Power & Energy group at CFD Research and play a pivotal role in the development of cutting-edge electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices and materials for both commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) applications. We are seeking highly motivated individuals with expertise in electrochemical power sources, electrochemistry, general surface chemistry, and nanotechnology. Initial projects involve advancing thermal battery materials with potential expansion into other electrochemical fields such as Li-ion/Na-ion batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors. Collaborate with diverse teams, champion customer requirements, and lead projects through impactful research and development efforts.
Job Responsibilities/Opportunities:
• Design, develop, and characterize various electrochemical materials and devices.
• Provide technical guidance to customers, ensuring solutions meet their needs effectively.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D team, manage projects with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to internal and customer meetings.
• Present research findings, draft technical reports, and contribute to proposal development.

Job Responsibilities/Opportunities:
• Design, develop, and characterize various electrochemical materials and devices.
• Provide technical guidance to customers, ensuring solutions meet their needs effectively.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary R&D team, manage projects with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to internal and customer meetings.
• Present research findings, draft technical reports, and contribute to proposal development.
Basic Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (PhD, or MS with 2+ years of relevant experience) in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical experimental operations and data acquisition.
- Proficiency in electrochemical characterization techniques.
- Strong proficiency in experimental methods, documentation practices, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
- Proven experience in proposal writing, with the ability to contribute to compelling proposals.
- Must be a US Citizen and eligible to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working in a glovebox and/or dry room is advantageous
