Our Business Development team, working closely with our Marketing team, is entrusted with the critical responsibility of building client and community relationships, winning work, and cultivating culture.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Business Development Manager for our East Texas region (greater Houston area) at Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, you are key to our business development endeavors in that region. Whether forging new relationships or nurturing established ones, your actions embody our commitment to client experience and market leadership. In addition to client relationship management, you'll lead regional community relationships, identifying events and associations for your region to partner with. You'll also oversee your region's proposal interview process, ensuring we are consistently aligned with opportunities that resonate with our values, vision, and strategy.

Though you'll report to the East Texas Regional VP, your strategies and efforts will be guided by the direction provided by the Business Development Director, emphasizing unity and cohesion across all our business development efforts, practices, and strategies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Relationship Cultivation: Build new relationships within the region and nurture existing ones, ensuring each connection is meaningful and aligned with our values, culture, and goals.
  • Community Engagement: Lead and strategize regional community engagement, identifying and connecting with pertinent events, associations, and organizations.
  • Process Management: Manage the regional proposal interview process, ensuring each opportunity supports our commitment to quality and community.
  • Strategic Support: While maintaining autonomy, draw strategy and support from the corporate BD function, ensuring regional efforts align with the broader company vision and supporting a collaborative BD team across all regions.
  • Oversee Growth: Monitor BD processes and strategies across regions, ensuring our growth is both purposeful and impactful.
  • Management: Direct and mentor the Regional Proposals Specialist, ensuring their work is aligned with regional BD objectives and guiding them in crafting effective proposals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with regional Project Executives, fortifying client relationships and enriching the proposal development process internally and for our clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+years of AEC marketing and/or business development experience required
  • Proven track record of success in business development in the construction industry in the greater Houston, Texas area.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills, with an emphasis on guiding and motivating teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of regional nuances.
  • Ability to align personal goals with the broader company vision and values.
  • Ability to travel throughout the greater Houston area.
