This position requires a talented engineer with passion and experience to help develop state of the art FEA models of High Voltage components and assemblies such as battery packs and power electronics. You Will:Role:Be part of a passionate and highly driven team of multi-disciplinary engineers developing the next generation Lucid Battery and High Voltage components.Own and maintain state of art finite element models of cells, battery modules and other high voltage components and assemblies.Perform strength, stiffness, PSD, and fatigue analysis on battery components.Perform advanced CAE simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding of the behavior of the cell, pack, and vehicle sub-systems around battery pack under both static and dynamic events.Characterize battery related materials and develop advanced material models for CAE simulations.Work cross functionally between various technical teams to evaluate concepts for future designs.Support design engineers in making sure the parts meet design requirements.Perform post-test reviews and correlate the CAE predictions to test results.Develop and apply advanced methodologies with smart analysis techniques to speed up the development cycle.Perform sensitivity analysis of material properties to drive design decisions.Qualifications:More than 2+ years of combined academic and industrial experience in FEA, Thermal-Structural Analysis, and physics-based modeling in related fieldsStrong knowledge of structural statics/dynamics, heat transfer and Mechanical/Electrical engineering fundamentalsKnowledge of and passionate interest in Structural, Thermo-Mechanical and Electro-Thermal AnalysisDemonstrable track record of technical excellence in FEA or related field.Proficiency using FEA preprocessing tools – ANSYS Mechanical, ABAQUS, or similarGeometry cleanup skills in a CAD package (Catia or SpaceClaim/Discovery preferred).Excellent communication skills with people of varying technical ability in your field A strong desire to create the best product, working as an integral part of a very capable team.The capability to design experiments to validate your analysis and ideas. Strong documentation practices Preferred:Experience in HV battery design and optimizationDeep knowledge of lithium-ion or solid-state battery cells in mechanical, thermal and electrochemical aspectsKnowledge of cell safety requirements, operating conditions, and failure modesAdditional fields of experience (structural statics/dynamics, material science, electro-chemical, electro-thermal).Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, COMSOL and other simulation toolExperience with ANSYS Fluent, ICEPAK or other CFD simulation toolsExperience in: GTSuite, TaiTherm, StarCCM+, Catia/3DExperience, OptiSLang, or similar engineering software.Practical hands-on experience with validation and experimental measurements including design of experiments.Experience with multi-objective optimization and process automation software.Education:2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree without experience.Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
