Siemens Electrification and Automation is seeking experienced professionals in power transmission & distribution, in the field of substation automation and protection relay engineering to join our growing team of Power Systems Engineers
We are looking for Power System Automation Engineers. This position will be based at Wendell, NC.
Role Description:
- Configure and test RTU/PLC for protection and controls schemes of Medium and High Voltage substations systems.
- Develop new application solutions with IEC61850 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field.
- Design and/or support elaboration of Control Logic Diagrams, System Network Architecture, Signal Lists, Functional Design Specifications documents during design phase of the project.
- Prepare and execute (FAT) Factory Acceptance Test procedures & testing environments for customer projects.
- Prepare and execute (SAT) Site Acceptance Test procedures and commissioning scripts for customer projects.
- Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in electrical/electronics/computer science engineering.
- 3 years of engineering experience in power automation for electrical substations.
- Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
- Knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
- Experience with at least one of the most common communication protocols such as IEC61850, DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, Profinet, Profibus.
- Factory and Site testing experience in automation and control systems
- Around 75% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design, Configuration, and troubleshooting of layer 2 and layer 3 capable devices for protection and automation applications with Ruggedcom and Scalance products.
- Knowledge in Siemens Power Automation products such as SICAM PAS, SICAM RTU, SICAM SCC.
- Experience with Power Automation engineering tools such as SICAM Device Manager
- Programming skills and experience with at least one of the most common programming languages used in process and power automation such as C++, ST, LD, FBD.

- The pay range for this position is $66,500 - $114,000. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
