GAL Manufacturing is looking to fill the position of Senior Human Resources Generalist, under the direction of the Director Human Resources and HR Shared Services. The candidate will serve as an administrator for several human resources functions and workforce management, including recruiting, employee/labor relations, health and safety, compensation, benefits, training, diversity, employee engagement, leave and attendance tracking, payroll, and employee records. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures labor law and regulatory compliance. Provides internal support and partnership to business lines to deliver required human resources. May evaluate, select, and oversee vendors that provide supplemental HR processes and services. Coordinates with HR support staff to process and maintain employment, attendance, and other records

Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related degrees; HR certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of US employment regulations.
  • Min. 5 years of Human Resources generalist experience with demonstrated ability to resolve simple and complex employee or organizational issues in partnership with key managers at the source including factory and corporate environments; known as a trusted advisor to business leaders.
  • Experience in the utilization of HCM systems for talent acquisition (ATS) and talent management purposes such as Paycom, ADP, Success Factors, UKG etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, mature in their ability to persuade and influence all levels of management; experienced in effective conflict management
  • Detail oriented and operates with a high level of accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, handling & prioritizing multiple projects/tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven and self-motivated


Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:
  • Employee Relations - Serves as both an advocate for employees and the business. Able to objectively solve employee and organizational problems to support business operations while upholding HR regulatory/compliance issues without fail.
    • Handles all employees (union and non-union) related questions including but not limited to grievances, investigations
    • Enforcing new and existing policies
    • Identifying treads and working with management to resolve


  • Recruitment
    • Upholds principles of employment equity and ensures no systemic recruitment barriers and the attraction of best-in-class talent in all catchment areas
    • Sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and facilitating orientation


  • Training and development
    • Facilitates the identification of learning needs in the business and works with managers and members of the Talent Management team (in HR) to support employee and supervisory learning


  • Employee Relations and Engagement
    • Accountable for site employee relations activities (i.e. holiday events)
    • Supports Vantage's bi-annual Employee Engagement Survey deployment and action planning


  • Employee Performance Management
    • Supports the delivery of systematic performance management process improvement


  • Administrative
    • Process all Personnel Action Form
    • Administer exit interviews
    • Run all HR/ Union reports
    • Develop site communication
