Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Stroke Neurologist to join our Comprehensive Stroke Center. This full-time faculty position involves providing expert clinical services, serving as a stroke faculty physician, and contributing to the academic and community missions of the Department of Neurology.
Key Responsibilities:
Stroke Neurologist Duties:
Clinical Leadership: Report directly to the Director of the Stroke Program and the Chief of the Division of Stroke and Neurocritical Care. Serve as a stroke faculty physician at the Comprehensive Stroke Center, providing expert medical guidance to the medical staff, administration, and other professionals.
Inpatient Care: Act as the stroke attending physician for the Neuroscience Unit on Tower 7 at RWJUH, delivering high-quality care to stroke patients.
Education & Training: Provide stroke education and lectures to medical staff, health professionals, staff, and patients. Participate in the teaching and mentoring of fellows, neurology residents, and medical students in various clinical and educational settings.
TPA Treatment Coordination: Administer the Tissue Plasminogen Activator (TPA) treatment program and collaborate with endovascular neurosurgeons, interventional neurologists, and neuroradiologists to bridge intravenous TPA treatment to mechanical thrombectomy and other interventions.
Program Development & Oversight: Provide leadership and counsel on the medical and clinical aspects of stroke care operations. Participate in policy development, compliance, professional education, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
Clinical Management: Oversee the medical management of the stroke program, monitor clinical indicators, and ensure that measurable standards are met. Provide medical oversight for program goals, budgets, and operations.
Innovation & Planning: Contribute to the planning and development of programs and services, including the adoption of emerging technologies and state-of-the-art equipment.
Committee Participation: Attend performance improvement and steering committee meetings, and participate in departmental and institutional administrative tasks as determined in consultation with the Chair.
Outpatient Care: Provide outpatient stroke clinic services during weeks without inpatient stroke duties, with the total number of clinics determined in consultation with the stroke division chief.
Telemedicine: Participate in providing telemedicine for stroke care when the telemedicine program is launched.
Community Service: Engage in community service by providing neurological care for indigent patients and educating community groups about cerebrovascular disorders.
Collaboration: Work closely with faculty neurointensivists on stroke-related patient care, teaching, and clinical research projects.
Qualifications:
- MD/DO degree and board certification in Neurology.
- Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology or related subspecialty.
- Strong clinical expertise in stroke care, with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Commitment to education and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
