Job Overview: APTIM is seeking a full time Geologist or Environmental Scientist in Northern California with expertise in the development and implementation of environmental site investigations and remedial actions. The successful candidate will possess two to five years' experience participating in various scopes associated with environmental site assessment and technical report preparation and demonstrate a willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment. Experience may include but is not limited to: installation of environmental soil borings and monitoring wells, collection and documentation of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, environmental permitting, installation of environmental remediation systems, implementation of both in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions, underground storage tank installation and removal, and underground storage tank system inspections, and include a working knowledge of Federal, State, and local environmental regulations. This position requires the ability to conduct field work, desktop analysis and reporting, occasional overnight travel, and application of knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations. Investment into your personal and professional development Key Responsibilities: Provides technical support to clients in a variety of work scopes, including but not limited to: environmental site characterization, monitoring, permitting, regulatory reporting, Phase I and Phase II due diligence, and residential and commercial construction. Collects and interprets soil, groundwater, and air samples. Executes field work, maintains project schedule and budgetary goals, andsupervises contractors. Conducts work independently or as part of a project team and can adjust to rapidly changing site conditions or client requirements. Adheres to established health and safety policies and procedures and executes work in a safe and conscientious manner. Conducts Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations in accordance with ASTM Standards and client requirements. Supports environmental permitting and permit compliance projects. Drafts technical documents for regulatory agencies and private, commercial, and industrial clients. Understands technical concepts, evaluates results, and plans, reports, and ensures conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures. Manages own schedule and balances multiple priorities to meet project targets and deadlines. Utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal and external business systems to improve products or services as a collaborative member of the APTIM team. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, Hydrology, or related scientific field required. Must have 2 to 5 years of applicable experience. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must be able to lift 30 pounds from ground level. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to travel as needed with occasional overnight stays. Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) certification preferred. Current HAZWOPER certification preferred. Experience working in California geologic environments preferred.
