Landfill Gas Project Manager
LaBella Associates, Charlotte, NC
The LFG Project Manager will lead and build a team of landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) technicians who perform routine operation and maintenance (O&M) of GCCS in our Charlotte, NC office. This position is available to an experienced landfill gas technician fluent in GCCS O&M, including compliance monitoring and optimization of GCCS and gas quality for beneficial use or best management practices, who has the drive and desire to make an impact in the Carolinas. The LFG Project Manager will be responsible for leading and growing our business throughout North and South Carolina, mentoring staff, and managing projects, all of which will enable LaBella to provide sustainable, cost-effective solutions for our solid waste clients.

Duties
- O&M at landfill flare stations, troubleshooting of system components, compliance monitoring as part of air permitting programs (Title V)
- Collecting and maintaining sensitive data, providing data reports,
- Experience with GCCS repairs and HDPE pipe welding.
- Manage internal and external (consultant or contractor) company resources.
- Organize and execute routine communications with area team and management.
- Support air program/permit engineers, legal, and environmental managers in responding to and resolving any regulatory issues pertaining to LFG/GCCS operations.
- Supervision of LFG Technicians.
- Mentorship of LFG Technicians.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of, HS Diploma or GED (accredited) and five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Five (5) years of relevant work experience in areas of landfill gas GCCS O&M, project management, engineering and/or construction specializing in GCCS design, construction, and/or operations, or the waste industry (in addition to education requirement).
- LFG Technician Certificate, preferred.
- High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe fusion certification, preferred.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Proven technical project management skill.
- Team player, motivated toward career growth and learning.
- Exceptional communication and reporting skills, with the ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline driven environment.
- Knowledge and aptitude for GCCS design, construction, and system operation
- Understanding of state and federal regulations which impact GCCS design, operations, and field monitoring/reporting, and associated deadlines.
- Ability to optimize the performance of GCCS (wellfield tuning/repairs/troubleshooting)
- Thorough familiarity with the operation of landfill gas collection and combustion devices and the ability to troubleshoot this equipment remotely.
- Advanced computer skills (i.e., email, web browser, Microsoft - Excel and Word)
- Excellent mechanical and technical skills/aptitude (plumbing/electrical)
- Proficiency in routine blower / flare operations, condensate management system maintenance environmental regulations affecting the operation and compliance of landfill gas management systems, and advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills for landfill gas collection and control systems.
- Relevant industry or state certifications (e.g., SWANA, NWRA, etc.), preferred.
- Basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), instrumentation and basic electrical knowledge/skills, preferred.
- Ability to travel, some overnight travel required.
