Candidates should be based in the NY metro area. We are a hybrid organization and work three days per week in our downtown New York City office.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Comic Relief US (CRUS) seeks a creator, strategist, data, and trends analyst -- this is an opportunity to grow and activate a social media audience for a national charity that is on a mission to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
The Social Media Manager will be responsible for the strategy, publishing, growth and activation of CRUS' social media channels. This includes planning, posting, interacting, monitoring, writing and commissioning social media content to yield a larger and more engaged community of supporters, partners and grantees.
You are a social media expert and have a proven track record of growing and cultivating social media audiences for a national media, entertainment, nonprofit or consumer brand.
You'll work across teams to establish strategies for promoting high-impact fundraising and engagement initiatives via organic social media. You'll also help identify themes and trends to feed into content and collaborate with internal teams and external partners on digital campaigns.
Most importantly, you will play an integral role in creating a distinct voice for CRUS that can cut through the digital noise, and ensuring it is delivered effectively across all social media channels from Facebook to TikTok to LinkedIn.

THE PAY
CRUS offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $85,000 - $95,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
CONTENT PLANNING AND STRATEGY
- Develop social media strategy and manage social media calendar for all Comic Relief USA and campaign social channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube etc., ensuring all remain active and relevant.
- Strengthen CRUS brand and activate CRUS campaigns e.g. Red Nose Day, Kids Relief on all social media channels through brand appropriate content.
- Launch new tentpole campaigns on social channels aligned with brand and organizational goals.
- Elevate and grow following, engagement and presence of the CRUS brand on social media.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with brand and philanthropic partners as well as relevant influencers, talent and online voices on social media - ensuring amplification, and engagement around shared campaigns and initiatives.
- Engage with grantees, child advocates, content creators, and the broader nonprofit and philanthropic community to ensure that CRUS is positioned as a pillar and thought-leader in the conversations relevant to our mission, and cultivate a community around CRUS' efforts.
- Activate and engage audiences at scale (with an end goal of cultivating potential small donors) across a wide spectrum of initiatives from advocacy and knowledge sharing, to volunteering and donation.
CONTENT CREATION, POSTING & ENGAGEMENT
- Ideate and develop social media content ensuring it is fit to channel trends and guidelines
- Write caption copy for daily posts across all channels. Copywriting is key.
- Monitor social activity and the media to identify opportunities for reactive content and conversational posts.
- Research and implement methodologies and best practices to drive engagement and growth.
- Work closely with the creative team to guide the development of visual assets (images, video)
- Manage and collaborate with Social Media Content Creator
REPORTING AND ANALYSIS
- Create a feedback loop by reporting weekly, monthly and quarterly on performance to internal teams.
- Monitor and report on the performance of content and campaigns, looking at successes and innovations across the nonprofit sector to keep teams apprised and aware of opportunities to evolve.
COORDINATION
- Partner across the organization in the development of content and campaigns including Creative, Marketing, PR, Grants, Fundraising, Talent and C-suite.
- Work with external partners including funders, corporate partners, celebrities, influencers and vendors to ensure awareness, growth, engagement and fundraising opportunities are maximized.
ABOUT YOU
- 7+ years of direct experience working at a national media, entertainment, nonprofit, philanthropy or consumer brand, delivering innovative social media campaigns, crafting creative social media strategy, and managing social media channels.
- Expert in social media best practices, tools and publishing, including fluency in the content, publishing and technical details and nuances particular to each platform.
- Expert in social listening tools like Sprout Social, Meltwater and Monday.com.
- Proficient in media production applications, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Indesign)
- Proficient in Google Suite
- You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- You have exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- You can manage multiple simultaneous deliverables, deadlines, and campaigns.
- You have enthusiasm and passion for emotional, breakthrough storytelling in unique formats.
- You are naturally creative and have the ability to generate new, never-been-done-before ideas.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-visibility, performance-driven environment.
- You work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts.
