Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a full time academic pediatric colorectal surgeon to join the Comprehensive Colorectal Center within the Department of Surgery. The applicant must possess a strong academic background and have the ability and vision to lead a prominent multi-faceted clinical, research and educational program. The successful candidate should be board certified in Pediatric Surgery with advanced training in pediatric colorectal care and possess excellent surgical, clinical, and academic skills. The applicant should be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Missouri and Kansas. The Department of Surgery at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is nationally recognized for excellence in patient care, education, and research. Established in 2018, the Comprehensive Colorectal Center at Children’s Mercy is a leading Midwest regional referral center for complex colorectal care and manages care for more than 300 patients annually. Patients with anorectal malformations, imperforate anus, Hirschsprung Disease, Cloacal malformations and severe colonic dysmotility can seek coordinated care for complex colorectal and pelvic reconstruction across surgical specialties including pediatric surgery, urology, and gynecology. The Department maintains a close relationship with academic appointments in the Department of Surgery at University of Missouri, Kansas City and at The University of Kansas, and provides the teaching and instruction for surgery residents and fellow. The Comprehensive Colorectal Program is rapidly growing with one full-time surgeon and 3 full time dedicated advance practice nurses. The colorectal program is part of the Section of Pediatric General Surgery with 8 full-time surgeons and 8 advanced practice nurses, and 5 fellows.
