Assembly Workers

Installs electrical wiring and assembles components in control cabinets and panel boards according to blueprints and wiring diagrams on Class 1 and 11 burner panels. Locates, drills and taps holes for mounting control units using hand tools and small power tools. Lifts and positions breakers, relays, contactors, bus bars, transformers, insulators, regulator cabinets, condenser units, motor and generator set, meters, plugging devices and fuse blocks to mounting holes and mounts them to cabinets. Cuts, strips, bend and forms wire cable, conduit and tubing used to connect control instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Mounts components and wires various panels working from blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Work is generally of a somewhat repetitive nature and involves the less complex panels and limited to Class I and 11 burner panels.
  • Uses various power and hand tools to accomplish the job.
  • Complies with all safety rules and standards and reports to their supervisor any condition out of his/her control.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, orderly, and functional work area at all times.
  • Assists other department employees.
  • Performs user maintenance on all machines and equipment.
  • Work must conform to Webster Engineering quality standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Will normally work under the supervision of Assembly Support Lead, but will, to some degree, be required to work with minimum supervision and assistance in most phases of the job performance

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Follow technical instructions, interpret engineering blueprints and technical terms.
  • Discern quality of parts and materials used in production.
  • Inventory parts and tools used in the assembling process.
  • Follow company procedures and directives.
  • Test finished products for defects.
  • Maintain the tools used to create products.
  • Keep a clean and well-maintained workspace.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands/fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, ascend/descend or balance to heights that may require a ladder or lift; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in confined spaces; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move upwards of 50 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and a plant which is not temperature controlled.
  • Inside Work is typically performed in a factory environment and is usually very loud.
  • In the factory environment, the employee may be exposed to hazardous materials and/or greasy or slippery factory floors.
