Bruker Nano, one of Bruker's four operating segments, provides customers in academic and governmental institutions, life science, materials, and applied industries with the tools to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules. Divisions within BNANO include Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy.

Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Buyer is responsible for performing purchasing/planning functions. The main objective is to ensure purchased material is on-time with the right quantity to meet demand, quality requirements at the lowest possible price.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Responsible for the activities related to the timely, cost effective procurement of materials, parts, components, equipment goods and services.
  1. Manages day-to-day placement of purchase orders and ensures delivery of goods and services are in accordance with needs.
  2. Manages day-to-day business activates with suppliers.
  3. Responsible to follow and support purchase demand contracts and negotiated prices.
  4. Will support strategic programs for sourcing, cost reduction and supplier auditing.
  5. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacture departments to ensure that materials in the supply chain are available as scheduled and inventory are maintained at minimum acceptable levels.
  6. Monitors and reports out on department KPI's.
  7. Involved in the purchase/price negations of material suppliers, equipment and services. Solicits bids, analyzes quotes, and selects/recommends suppliers.
  8. Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors like end of life product, sole source constraint, geographic conditions and supplier consolidation.
  9. Demonstrates good judgement in selection methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
  10. Administers and complies with all Environmental, Health and Safety policy, procedures as set forth by Federal, State and company directives.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Must be familiar with an ERP/MRP system

Must be a self-starter, exercise good judgment, have good decision-making, and communication skills.

The ability to work in a fast-paced progressive manufacturing environment.

Low cost country outsourcing and currency management experience is a plus.

Working knowledge and experience in pull systems, Kanban and JIT replenishment strategies.

Technical buying experience is a must.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree preferred but not required (preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering) with a minimum 2 years progressive experience in the field of procurement (preference: purchasing of mechanical, electronic components and assemblies)

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $69,500/yr. and $110,000/yr. and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
