Within this Acoustics org, our Transducer Engineering team pioneers novel speaker designs that are integrated into all Apple products. We are a diverse team of acoustics and vibration experts, accomplished listeners, and creative problem solvers. We work closely with multi-disciplined specialists including mechanical engineers, system engineers, industrial designers, audio tuners and components suppliers to conceptualize and create transducers that enhance the audio experience for our customers.
We are looking for an Acoustic Transducer Engineer to help take future Apple products to the next level. Could this be you?DescriptionAs an Acoustic Transducer Engineer at Apple, you will work with a team of people who are passionate about audio and delivering the best possible user experience. You will drive all aspects of transducer design and development, helping our manufacturing partners scale production and testing. The role involves linear and non-linear computer simulation of electromagnetic, acoustics and structural mechanics. You will optimize each design aspect for our custom transducers and work with other multi-functional teams to deliver an extraordinary audio experience to millions.Minimum QualificationsMost of our engineers have advanced degrees in Acoustics or an equivalent field (physics, electrical or mechanical engineering, etc.), but if you’ve followed a different path to expertise in acoustics and transducer design that’s fine too!Accomplished communicator who works cross functionally, self-disciplined with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and prioritizeAbility to travel internationallyPreferred Qualifications5+ years of transducer design experience with wide range of speaker designs (from single suspension micro speaker design to professional speakers) and strong understanding of loudspeaker design methods (and tradeoffs such as power, dimensions and cost)Experience with speaker components and materials, assembly techniques and process together with their integration into productsExperience with Finite Element Analysis software COMSOL for magnetic circuits, mechanics and acoustics simulationsWorking knowledge of lumped-parameter simulation methods and tools, as implemented in either equivalent circuit simulators or System Dynamics simulators (MATLAB and Simulink)Experience with Speaker LPM and nonlinear parameters measurements systems like KlippelExperience with 3D solid modeling and meshing toolsProven ability to work with manufacturing suppliers/vendors on DFM from early design phase to prototyping and mass productionDemonstrated ability to provide effective failure analysis of transducers through prototype to mass production buildsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,800 and $237,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
