As a Senior FPGA Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing FPGA-based solutions for advanced wireless systems and modems. Your expertise in FPGA design, wireless communication theory, and modem technology will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and reliable transmission of data in advanced communication networks. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Product and System Integration Silicon and will work closely with systems software, hardware, and test teams responsible for delivering the communications payload. This position is based in our Saratoga office.What you will do:Design and develop FPGA-based systems for wireless communication applicationsImplement and optimize algorithms for modulation, demodulation, error correction, and signal processingCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and translate them into FPGA architecturesConduct performance simulations and analyses to validate FPGA designsDevelop and execute test plans to ensure the functionality and performance of FPGA designs in real-world conditionsDebug and troubleshoot FPGA designs, addressing any issues that arise during development and testingStay abreast of the latest advancements in FPGA technology, wireless communication standards, and signal processing techniquesDocument design processes, test results, and performance metrics to ensure thorough and clear communication within the teamWhat you bring to this role:Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field10+ years of experience in FPGA design and implementationStrong background in wireless communication systems, including modem designProficiency in hardware description languages (HDL) such as VHDL or VerilogExperience with FPGA development tools and platforms, such as Xilinx, Altera, or similarDeep understanding of communication theory, digital signal processing, and error correction techniques, and experience with MATLABProven ability to optimize FPGA designs for performance, power, and areaExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environmentStrong analytical and communication skillsBonus points for the following:Experience with 3GPP standards, particularly 5GNRKnowledge of software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and toolsProficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or PythonFamiliarity with high-speed digital design and signal integrity analysisThis is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga office.  The target base pay for this position is $170,000 - $220,000 annually.  The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
