As our investment research and trading arm, SSGM’s number one goal is to enhance and preserve our clients’ portfolio values by applying technology, optimizing trading, and linking asset classes and markets across the world.Join us if making your mark in the capital markets industry from day one is a challenge you are up for.What You Will Be Responsible ForAs a Quantitative Researcher, Assistant Vice President, you willSSA produces cutting edge research and proprietary measures of investor behavior that are used by some of the most sophisticated asset managers in the world. We are looking for a quantitative researcher who to assist in the development of applications for our indicators offering.RESPONSIBILITIESResearch and develop quantitative strategies in equities, fixed income, foreign exchange and commodities utilizing non-traditional data. Evaluate signal quality and discuss relationships to traditional and proprietary factors.Contribute to ongoing research on the alternative data landscape. Hold discussions with external data providers to better understand product offering, uniqueness of data, and potential application areas for the firm.Manage integration of external data into internal testing environment. Analyze data quality and statistical characteristics. Evaluate biases, both actual and potential, that exist within new data sets.Work collaboratively through various channels to find opportunities to inspire consideration of our research and product offerings and drive business results.Communicate results and opinions to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.Education & Preferred QualificationsQUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree required (graduate degree preferred) in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, mathematics, physics, or similar fields.2+ years of experience in a similar role, academic qualification and/or professional designation is required.Strong working knowledge of financial and statistical concepts including modern portfolio theory and asset pricing theory.Computer programming experience; MATLAB, Python, SQL, and experience working with large data sets.Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strict attention to detail.About State StreetWhat we do.
